Salmon on a Cedar Plank

Salmon on a Cedar Plank
Ingredients

  • 1 cedar plank
  • 2 salmon fillets (150 g./piece) or one whole salmon
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
For the crust

  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • A handful of chopped parsley
Accessories

  • CEDAR PLANK
METHOD

  1. Cedar planks are the most commonly used grilling planks. When used properly, they add a delicious flavour to the salmon. Tip: You can add any flavour you like. Think beer, wine, salt, lemon juice… Each ingredient will give it a unique flavour. Soak the cedar plank in water for 1 hour. Remove the plank from the water, pat dry and grease both sides with oil.
  2. Moisten both sides of the salmon fillet with neutral or flavoured oil. Place the salmon on the soft side of the board and heat the barbecue to 150°C. Then place the cedar plank with the salmon on the grill and cook for approximately 15-20 minutes over a covered flame. Note: For a whole salmon, allow about 45-50 minutes for preparation.
  3. You can check the readiness of the salmon by its colour and by sticking a fork into it. Always check at the thickest part of the fillet. Serve with your favourite vegetables and sprinkle with lemon juice. Enjoy.
  4. Important note: always keep water (in a spray bottle) on hand to extinguish flames if the grill board catches fire. Once the salmon is served, immerse the used board in water to prevent it from catching fire.
